Fish Farming in lake bodies around the City - Coimbatore Corporation

Coimbatore City corporation is planning to lease out major water bodies in the city to private parties to start fish farming.
Part of the lake restoration project, the corporation has sent a detailed report to the government for approval. TK Ponnusamy, Commissioner of Coimbatore has told that the lake bodies will be used for pisciculture in a scientific manne which will be a source of additional income for the corporation that could be utilised for further maintenance of the water bodies. The report submitted by the civic body includes a proposal to start pisciculture farms in Ukkadam Lake, Valankulam, Muthannankulam, Singanallur, Selvampathi, Kumaraswami and Selvachinthamani lakes.
