The city Mayor and AIADMK District Secretary SM Velusamy has strongly dismissed the allegations of misappropriation and acting in violation of his official capacity levelled against him by a section of his elected councillors from his own party on Monday.
Velusamy told that it was a political ploy and should not be taken seriously. However, the development seems to have political undertones as it has exposed the fissures within the party framework in the district as members of the anti-Velusamy faction claimed that some senior district level AIADMK leaders are also not happy with him and his style of functioning.
"There is no factionalism in the district unit of the party. It is all baseless allegations and politically motivated rumours. Whoever has indulged in embezzlement of city corporation funds will be booked if found guilty after a probe is conducted," said Velusamy.
