Over hundred residents of Ponkaliyur staged protest near Vadavalli police station as the residents believe that Anand (30) died of custodial torture.
Anand and his two friends were caught gambling by police men and arrested under TamilNadu Gambling Act. Cases were filed against them and they were sent to home by 8PM where Anand started vomitting blood by 10PM and died on the way to hospital. It was said that there were marks of torture in neck and earlobes.
