TNAU's project to increase shelf-life of fruits

TNAU Vice Chancellor, P Murugesa Boopathi has told that the university is carrying out a project in collaboration with a Canadian University which will increase the shelf-life of fruits.
Most of the fruits exported are lost during transportation as they become rotten. To avoid this and to increase more export of fruits, the University has come up with a nano-film in which a chemical hexanal (found by Canadian university) will be packed and the same technology will be used to increase the shelf-life of fruits. India, being second largest producer of fruits in the world will be highly benefited with this technology which is also environment friendly.
